The construction materials came
from different parts of Canada. The shiny Caledonia granite seen
throughout the inside of the Museum comes from
Rivière-à-Pierre, Quebec, on the north shore of
the St. Lawrence. The Tyndall limestone on the exterior comes
from the Garson quarry, 40 km (24 miles) northeast of Winnipeg,
Manitoba, and close to the railway station at Tyndall, from
where the stone was shipped.
