Tour: Archaeological history of Canada in 10 objects

Friday, April 5, 2024

Join Dr. Matt Betts for a tour on the Archaeological history of Canada in ten objects. The Canadian History Hall displays hundreds of the most significant archaeological finds in Canada. However, this tour of the Hall will focus on just 10 special objects which tell the most critical and evocative stories. Dr. Matthew Betts, Curator of Eastern Canadian Archaeology, will weave a narrative of Canadian History from both seemingly mundane objects, like a lead musket ball or small stone bead, to the powerfully symbolic, like an 800-year-old autobiography written in pictographs on an ivory bow drill. Each object has its own complex story to tell, and Dr. Betts will reveal the secrets and revelations embedded in stone, bone, clay, metal and wood from 13,000 years of Canadian archaeological history.

Exclusive members presentation with Dr. Matt Betts. In English.

Tickets will be available March 12.
