Security Measures

We are introducing additional security measures to enhance the safety and security of our visitors, and of our collections, ensuring that they remain accessible and intact for future generations.

These security measures will include bag verification for visitors to both Museums. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

 

Timed Online Ticketing

Please book your timed admission ticket:

All visitors, including Museum Members, are required to have a timed ticket. Admission is free on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., but a timed ticket is required — book yours online as early as 5 p.m. Sunday of the week you would like to visit.

Please arrive at the Museum no earlier than 10 minutes before the entry time on your ticket. Late arrivals may not be permitted entry.

Upon arrival, visitors with tickets purchased online can go directly to the exhibition entrance to have their tickets scanned.

If you have not booked in advance, or prefer to book in person, admission will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Box Office.

There are no restrictions on the length of your visit at the Museum of History, within normal operational hours.

Everyone visiting the Museum requires a timed ticket, regardless of age.

Free Admission

  • At all times for Members and volunteers
  • Children under 2 years of age
  • Every Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.*
  • Canada Day (July 1)
  • National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30)
  • Remembrance Day (November 11)

*Admission is free on Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m., but a timed ticket is required. Visitors can book their tickets online as early as 5 p.m. Sunday of the week they would like to visit.

The Canadian Museum of History also offers free admission to:

  • Indigenous peoples, including First Nations, Inuit and Métis
  • A single attendant accompanying a person with a disability. Call the Museum for details.
  • Canoo members (formerly Cultural Access Pass)
