Travel through pivotal moments in Napoleon Bonaparte’s life, from the Battle of Austerlitz to his final days on Saint Helena. Epic battles, strategic triumphs, bitter setbacks, and personal reflections unfold around you through striking reconstructions and immersive storytelling.

Using cutting-edge VR technology, go beyond the gallery walls and experience the Napoleonic era at full scale. Move through expansive virtual environments, from battlefields to iconic landmarks, as defining moments take shape across richly and accurately detailed scenes, bringing 19th-century Paris to life. Hear from the Emperor himself and gain an intimate perspective on one of history’s most influential figures.

You can purchase a Napoleon Immersive-only ticket or add it on to general museum admission. Tickets start at $30 for the VR experience, or $20 if added to Museum admission.

What to expect

  • This is a free-roaming 30-minute experience. You will roam around the environment wearing a VR headset.
  • Ages 8+ (8-12 with adult accompaniment).
  • A signed waiver is required for all participants before the experience begins. Children under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present to sign the waiver.
  • Two virtual reality spaces, each accommodating 12 participants per session.

After the VR adventure, continue exploring Napoleon’s enduring legacy:

  • Discover aspects of his lasting impact around the world, including in Canada.
  • Engage with an AI-powered interactive station that invites visitors to “Ask Napoleon!” questions.

FAQ

Is the exhibition accessible to all visitors?

  • The VR experience is accessible to wheelchair users (manual or motorized). To ensure smooth and safe movement within the immersive environment, we recommend that motorized wheelchairs be set to manual mode whenever possible.
  • This experience may cause dizziness for visitors that have balance issues or a history of dizziness.
  • At this time, subtitles or captions are not available within the VR experience.
  • Hearing aids can be worn, but they cannot be connected to the VR headset.
  • Due to the tracking technology used in the experience, service animals are not permitted in the VR space.
  • The experience is not recommended for individuals with epilepsy, heart conditions, or those sensitive to flashing lights or motion effects.
  • Visitors are encouraged to inform staff upon arrival if they have any accessibility concerns. Our team will be happy to assist and provide appropriate support.
