The Queens of Egypt are en route to the Canadian Museum of History!
This summer, travel back in time to the ancient Egypt of 3,500 years ago, where you’ll encounter women of power and influence. This major exhibition features more than 300 iconic objects, including monumental statues, sarcophagi, funerary objects, and jewellery, associated to legendary queens such as Nefertari, Nefertiti, and Hatshepsut. This immersive multisensory experience offers visitors an unforgettable glimpse into one of history’s most important ancient civilizations.
Our Featured Queen: Ahmose-Nefertari
The Queen featured on the exhibition poster is Ahmose-Nefertari, Great Royal Wife, Regent and Goddess, whose reign inaugurated the New Kingdom. She was the first Queen on whom the title “Wife of God Amun” was bestowed. It was an important religious role, until then only held by men. She became Queen Regent when her husband, Pharaoh Ahmose I, died. With her son Amenhotep I, she restored the country’s unity and led the kingdom’s political, economic and cultural awakening.
An exhibition developed by Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Archaeology and History Complex, in collaboration with Museo Egizio of Turin (Italy), and adapted by the Canadian Museum of History.

Family Activity: Mission Nefertari
After visiting the exhibition, take part in an activity for the whole family.
Travel back in time to help Nebet, a magical cat and loyal servant to Queen Nefertari, on a special mission for the whole family. Using an app, identify some mistakes researchers made while they were assembling a study of Nefertari’s tomb in a 1930s lab. Can you take on this challenge in the allotted time? If you succeed, you’ll be rewarded by Nebet!
A web app is required for this activity; be sure to bring your mobile device.
