PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Due to protests in the National Capital Region, the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum will now reopen their doors to the public on Wednesday, February 9.
Ongoing protests in the region continue to have a significant impact on traffic circulation in downtown Ottawa, Gatineau, and across the interprovincial bridges, making access to our sites extremely difficult. As a result, the Museums have made the decision to delay their reopening by one week. As of February 9, the Museums will be open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Thursdays.
Visitors to the Canadian Museum of History will be able to view the new special exhibition Lost Liberties – The War Measures Act, which explores the suspension of civil liberties in Canada during the First World War, the Second World War, and the 1970 October Crisis, and sheds new light on the enduring impact of the Act on Canada and its people. A new panel exhibition will open in February at the Canadian War Museum. A Community at War – The Military Service of Black Canadians of the Niagara Region highlights the experiences of 22 Black men and women from the Niagara region and Southwestern Ontario, from the American Revolution to the present day.
