Gatineau, Quebec, March 21, 2018 — The Canadian Museum of History is pleased to welcome four new members to its Board of Trustees, in addition to having the mandates of Andrea T. Bobkowicz and Jean Giguère renewed. These appointments were announced by the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, following a rigorous selection process.

“I look forward to working closely with these new Trustees to guide the priorities of the Museums in the coming years,” said Dr. James Fleck, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Trustees: Judith Baxter, Ken Langille and Christopher McCreery. Through their dedication, commitment and hard work, they have helped the Museums accomplish extraordinary things during their tenures on the Board.”

“We welcome the appointments of these new Trustees to our Board, and we look forward to continuing the important work of Canada’s two national museums of history under the leadership of such a talented, diverse and experienced group of Canadians,” said Mark O’Neill, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of History.

The 11-member Board oversees the operation of the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum — Canada’s national museums of human and military history.

The Canadian Museum of History operates the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum and the Virtual Museum of New France. Together, these Museums function as centres for research and public information on the history of Canada. Their principal role is to enhance Canadians’ knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the events, experiences, people and objects that have shaped Canada’s history and identity. Work of the Canadian Museum of History is made possible in part through financial support of the Government of Canada.
