Engraved Narwhal Tusk - IV-C-5807

Engraved Narwhal Tusk
c. 1965
Davidee Itulu (1929)

Among the stories depicted on this tusk is that of Kaujjagjuk, the orphan boy who is mistreated by everyone in the village. The man in the moon takes pity on the boy and whips him to give him strength. The next morning, three bears appear in the village. Kaujjagjuk grabs one and smashes it against an iceberg to show his strength. He then proceeds to kill everyone who tormented him in the past.
