Temporary closure of the Canadian Museum of History

October 10, 2020

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

For immediate release

Gatineau, Quebec, October 10, 2020 — Due to the latest COVID-19 restrictions, the Canadian Museum of History will be closed to visitors and all other groups, effective Sunday, October 11 until further notice. All on-site events and programs have also been cancelled.

This closure is in response to the latest public health directives from the Government of Quebec, which has declared that Gatineau is in the “red zone”, as well as local public health authorities. We regret the impact of this decision on the individuals, families and groups who use our facilities; however, the health and safety of visitors remains our top priority.

Throughout the closure, the Museum will continue to present dynamic digital offerings on its website. To explore our rich content, or for updates, please visit the Museum’s website at historymuseum.ca, and follow us on social media.

The Canadian War Museum remains open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Thursday. Note that you must book your timed admission ticket via the Canadian War Museum website at warmuseum.ca.

Thank you for your understanding during these exceptional times, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Museum soon.

Work of the Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum is made possible in part through financial support of the Government of Canada.
