Canadian Museum of Civilization without electrical power

Gatineau, Quebec, March 19, 2007 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization is without electrical power today due to a work related accident early this morning. A sub-contractor sustained injuries and is now in stable condition in hospital. The person is a contractor to Black & MacDonald, the company providing engineering services to the Museum.

Employees have been advised not to report to work until further notice. They are asked to call 819 776-8609 to obtain updated information.

The power failure does not interfere with regular operations for visitors as the Museum is closed on Mondays from October to May.

There is no risk to the Museum’s collections as the buildings are designed to withstand a power interruption for 48 hours with little impact on the internal climate.
