1999-2002: First Peoples Hall
Emergence is based upon two distinct and emergent photographic perspectives. The first view is the anthropological-based photographic view of Aboriginal communities, taken by CMC anthropologists during the first half of this century. The second is a more recent photographic view by today's Aboriginal photographers. The exhibition will develop a synergism of the two and define a new photographic space (new relationships created by juxtaposing images), in light of today's Aboriginal quest for self determination and reclaiming the past.
