The Journey

This trunk, of possible Doukhobor origin, is dated circa 1870s. It is orange, with distinctive floral designs on the front. The interior is unpainted, and the initials "C.P.R." appear on a label. (Pennsylvania German (tbv))

This chest is originally from the village of Edenburg. In 1870 the donor left Russia with his parents and came to Manitoba and settled in Saskatchewan around the turn of the century. The chest has been intricately decorated by Mennonites in the characteristic folk art motifs. (German)

This bag, bought in Vietnam in 1964, was brought to Canada by the owner in 1984. (Vietnamese)
