Chapter 4
A Dane in Little Italy

1960   In December, Connie and Chris Bennedsen visit Denmark for the first time.

1961   Connie and Chris move into Connie’s parents home at 190 Arlington Avenue in January.

1960   Connie joins the Fiorente Lodge of the Order Sons of Italy of Ontario.

Early 1960s   Chris and Eric Skov visit Denmark.

Mid- to late 1960s   Chris and Connie return to Denmark.

Late 1960s   Ella Bennedsen marries Johnny Russell–Möller.

1976   Chris and Connie Bennedsen return to Denmark to celebrate Frederik and Anna Bennedsen’s 50th wedding anniversary.

1976   Anna Bennedsen dies.

1977   Connie Bennedsen is elected Grand Administrative Secretary, Order Sons of Italy of Ontario (OSIO).

1977   Chris Bennedsen joins the Fiorente Lodge, marking the beginning of his active association with organization.

1980   hris is appointed Grand Council Trustee for OSIO.

Chapter 4
A Dane in Little Italy

1981   Chris is appointed Grand Council Treasurer for OSIO.

1982   Chris is elected Grand Council Recording Secretary for OSIO.

1986   Carmela Colangelo dies.

1988    Frederik Bennedsen dies.

1989   Chris is elected Grand Orator with responsibility for the archives of OSIO.

1989   Chris signs an agreement with the Multicultural History of Ontario (MHSO) to donate the OSIO archives.

1991    Chris is elected Grand Venerable (President) of OSIO.

1993   Chris retires from his work in the sheet-metal industry.

1994   Connie and Chris move to Thorncliffe Park.

1995   Chris becomes the first national president of Order Sons of Italy Canada (OSIC).

1997   Chris becomes president of the Thalassemia Foundation of Canada.

1997    Chris’s last trip to Denmark.

2002   Chris Bennedsen dies on December 26.

2003   Connie Bennedsen dies.
