The Europe set made references to Britain's European possessions. Mrs. Nordheimer's costume alluded to British naval power, with a tiny ship on her shoulder, men-of-war painted on her skirt and a never-setting sun painted on the front and back of her bodice. She carried a trident in her hand and wore a crown on her head.
