In Canadian National Railways posters, farmers are elegant figures. This man stands in front of his recently-harvested land.

The White Star Steamship Line's image of a western Canadian farmer is almost identical to those farmers in the Canadian National Railways posters: a tall man in riding boots, wearing a Stetson hat and an open-necked shirt. He looks like a fashion model. As usual, it's harvest time and the weather is perfect.

British emigrants could take advantage of subsidized fares to different parts of the Empire. These special fares were offered by the British Oversea Settlement Scheme Office to farmers, farm labourers, and domestics.
