Drawing instruments Only a few artifacts have survived the rich archaeological career of T.W.E. Sowter.  Among these are a hand lens through which innumerable specimens, both archaeological and palaeontological must have been carefully examined.  A manuscript attests to the clarity of thought that was required of authors since editing was a long and arduous process unaided by instant corrections or spell-checkers.  Family photographs let us see the man behind the name and allow us to humanize this important pioneer of Ottawa Valley archaeological research.
