The Gottfriedson family has been involved in rodeos, ranching and stock contracting for two generations. The late Gus Gottfriedson ran a string of bucking stock in the 1960s and 1970s, building upon the business begun by his father-in-law, Andy Manuel. His wife, Mildred, and his children worked alongside him to produce a herd of horses and bulls that were used at national rodeo finals in the United States and Canada for many years.

Robbie MacDonald has been supplying bucking stock to the Calgary Stampede and the Canadian National Finals rodeo for close to forty years. His father acquired a string of top-quality horses in the 1930s from Tom Three Persons, the famous bronc rider from the Stand Off Reserve in southern Alberta.

Art Francis and his daughter Marnie Joy get stock ready for a Canadian Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. Francis Rodeo is the largest Native-owned stock-contracting company in Canada, and has its own trucks, prize-winning stock and portable arena.
