Greg Staats is a noted photographic artist with 14 solo exhibitions and more than a dozen group exhibitions to his credit, including AlterNative Contemporary Photo Compositions (Ottawa, 1996).

As one of Canada's best-known photographic artists, Mr. Staats has also received numerous artistic commissions, including thirteen photographs commissioned for the Banff Centre Permanent Collection; thirty photographs for a permanent ecotourism display for the Mushkegowuk First Nations Council; and four photo murals for Toronto's Metro Hall building.

Mr. Staats' work has been profiled in a number of monographs, trade journals and newspapers and is found in the collections of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Canada Council Art Bank, the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and numerous other public and private collections throughout Canada.

Raised on the Six Nations Reserve near Brantford Ontario, Mr. Staats is currently based in Toronto. With cultural ideals based firmly in the Great Law of Peace, his work honours the Mohawk oral tradition, linking it to an evolving personal and visual continuum.
