Eating Dry Fish

Eating Dry Fish
1968
Peter Aliknak (1928)

In the publication The Inuit World, the Inuit authors state: "It will be understood that the great preoccupation of our people over the centuries has been simply with food. Getting enough to eat has always been a matter of concern in this land, and up until recent times actual starvation was not unknown to us. Fortunately, such severe conditions of life no longer prevail and the Inuit are now free to pursue broader interests." This print captures some of the intense feeling surrounding food.
