2024: A year of unforgettable experiences

Published

May 12, 2025

The Membership Division has been busy this year! The Museums now have more than 5,900 enthusiastic members — all enjoying perks that include unlimited access to two national museums, the Canadian Children’s Museum, and CINÉ+ screenings, along with discounts on parking, food, and Gift Shop purchases. But what truly sets our membership program apart is the special access to exclusive tours and events that our members can’t stop talking about!

This past year, members of the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum enjoyed more than 25 unique, members-only experiences. From curator-led tours to book talks and private film screenings, each event offered something special. As one member said, “What I love most about my membership is having unique and intimate experiences that are just for members — especially when an event brings us into contact with Museum curators.”

At the Museum of History, this year’s highlight was Creative Learning Specialist Mark Pearcey’s tour of the exhibition First Royals of Europe, which attracted more than 130 members. According to one of the participants, “Mark had a great grasp of the details, but always stayed focused on the big picture: the story. I also appreciated how his tour was kid-friendly, yet engaging for adults.”

Meanwhile, at the War Museum, members were treated to six special tours and events. More than 370 participants explored topics ranging from the Second World War to the war art featured in the Outside the Lines exhibition. Dr. Jeff Noakes’s Second World War tour was a crowd favourite, with one attendee saying, “Jeff covered so many aspects of the war, keeping everyone’s interest throughout and inspiring us to return to the Museum for further exploration.”

Beyond tours: Exclusive screenings

In addition to tours, members were invited to seven private CINÉ+ screenings, each offering a memorable experience — complete with complimentary snacks. A standout event was the screening of Tiger Tiger. This captivating documentary on the preservation of tigers transported viewers into the heart of the Sundarbans: a vast mangrove forest stretching across parts of India and Bangladesh. Following the film, members enjoyed an exclusive opportunity to hear from the producers in a lively and insightful Q & A session.

From expert-led tours to immersive screenings, membership opens doors to experiences you won’t find anywhere else. Join today and make the most of your Museums.
