Spins & Needles at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Gatineau, Quebec, January 16, 2006 – On Thursday, January 25 come listen to some funky beats from a local DJ while you craft the night away at Spins & Needles, a monthly Ottawa-based craft night. This is an opportunity to bring together people who want to get creative to work on projects, share ideas and have a few drinks while listening to cool DJ beats. You will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition Unique! 30 Years of Outstanding Crafts with Museum’s curator Alan Elder.

Spins & Needles is an independent, monthly craft and music night that has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally. The original idea of Spins & Needles came about after recognizing that Ottawa needed an event to bring together creative types. It is loosely based on a weekly craft night at a bar in Montreal. Expanding on this idea, the Spins & Needles organizers decided to start a night by incorporating live music spun by local DJs and constructive crafting by providing assorted materials and a different project each month. As of October 2006, it has been on the move to various locations in downtown Ottawa and Toronto. For more information about Spins & Needles visit http://www.spinsandneedles.com. .
