New Appointments to Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation


Gatineau, Quebec, April 17, 2008 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (CMCC) is pleased to announce two new appointments to the Corporation’s Board of Trustees.

Linda Cardinal is currently a Professor in the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa, and holds the Research Chair on Francophonie and Public Policy, part of the Faculty of Social Science. Among many other distinctions, she has also held the research chair in Canadian Studies at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, France and at University College Dublin, in Ireland.

Laurie M. Watson, is currently President of Merlin Edge Inc., a communications company specializing in marketing, investor relations and corporate communications. Previously, Ms. Watson worked as communications manager for the Reform Party of Canada, as well as a journalist and Bureau Chief for United Press International, where she managed the wire service’s first bureaus in Canada.

Appointed by the Governor-in-Council, the eleven members of the CMCC’s Board of Trustees are part-time appointees, representing different regions of Canada. These appointments to the Board were originally announced by the Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages.
