2003-2004: Special Exhibitions Gallery C

This extraordinary exhibition is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a hundred extremely rare artifacts and manuscripts from the Biblical period, many of them never before seen outside Israel. Through these unique archaeological finds, discover over a thousand years of ancient history and the roots of two world religions, Judaism and Christianity.

The exhibition uses a chronological framework to present the early history of the Jewish people through artifacts and references to one of the world's best-known documents: the Bible. It also draws on recent archaeological discoveries, historical research and the analysis of scriptural sources.

The exhibition was organized by the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, in collaboration with the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History at Pointe-à-Callière and in partnership with the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Artifacts on loan from the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, the Israel Antiquities Authority, and the Library and Archives of Canada. Exhibition produced in Canada by Pointe-à-Callière in partnership with the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canada Travelling Exhibitions Indemnification Program.
