Journal de l'Instruction publique : [Journal of public instruction]: first Francophone periodical on education published in Quebec, established by Pierre-J.-O. Chauveau, then Superintendent of the Board of Education. This periodical was published by the Département de l'instruction publique du Québec [Quebec department of public instruction] and discussed literature, education and subjects of general interest.

Significantly, Pierre-Joseph-Oliver Chauveau was the first Premier of Quebec from 1867 to 1873.
