Beaver and Maple Leaf (weather vane)

CMC PCD 94-681-007

L'Assomption, Quebec; sheet tin, iron, wood; 87 x 83 x 5.5 cm; Sharpe Collection. CMC 77-1045

Its powerful lines make this weather vane a true work of art. The original design incorporates Canada's two national symbols, the beaver and the maple leaf. Made up of several tin sheets hammered and soldered together, the beaver is perched above a copper sphere that represents the earth.
