There is a growing public interest in antique golf implements in Canada and around the world. Golf museums are established in several countries and there are many books and magazine articles on specific topics related to golf history. Members of the Golf Historical Society of Canada buy, sell, and trade items, and get together for Hickory Hacker Tournaments, where the old hickory-shafted clubs are brought out of retirement and played again.

Among the Canadian Museum of Civilization holdings is an excellent array of antique and classic golfing equipment, prints and books. Most of this material originated in a collection assembled by W. Lynnwood Stewart. This important collection was first displayed at the Canadian Golf Museum at the Kingsway Park Golf and Country Club at Aylmer, Quebec from 1967 to 1992. The collection was acquired by the Canadian Museum of Civilization between 1993 and 1996.
