INTRODUCTION

Ancient Treasures and the Dead Sea Scrolls presents objects of inestimable value that shed light on several periods during which the Jewish and Christian religious traditions emerged. These periods span more than a thousand years from the building and destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem to the establishment of the earliest synagogues and churches in the Holy Land.

The artifacts shown here are witnesses to that history and to some of the individuals who were a part of it. They reflect highly significant developments in the beliefs and ways of life of the early Jews and Christians.
