The Three-Household Inn is in the repertoire of Peking Opera as part of the Wagang Zhai series. This episode depicts a time when Qin Qiong (a famous figure in Chinese history, and a lead in this play) was caught by authorities and sent to the court under heavy guard. That night, in the Three-Household Inn, with the help of a security guard named Wang Zho, Qin Qiong manages to leave a note to a friend in the Wagang Army, setting up a rescue during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
This episode was originally a Peking Opera presentation, but has since been adapted by many other local opera styles, including Cantonese opera.
