Jeremy Charles

Jeremy Charles grew up in St. John’s and Old Perlican, Trinity Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador, where the foodways of his family and community nurtured a passion for cooking. After studying at St. Pius X Culinary Institute in Montréal, he worked abroad for nearly two decades. He eventually returned to Newfoundland, where he became well known for his work at acclaimed restaurants including Atlantica, Raymonds, and The Merchant Tavern. Charles has brought international attention to Newfoundland’s cuisine through television appearances, including on Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, andhas written a cookbook called Wildness, published by Phaidon. Charles promotes locally sourced and foraged foods and celebrates the unique heritage and innovation of Newfoundland’s culinary scene.
