Autumn Peltier

Autumn Peltier (Mskwaagiizo-Kwe) was born on Manitoulin Island, Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, and grew up surrounded by nature, community and family. Peltier’s early memories of ceremony, community teachings, and the activism of her mother and aunt, led her to advocacy at a young age, as she learned about boil-water advisories and pipelines. In her public speaking engagements, she has made presentations on pressing issues, including Indigenous rights and the environment, to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the United Nations. She has been nominated three times for the International Children’s Peace Prize. Peltier is Chief Water Commissioner for the Anishinabek Nation, and a new parent.
