The Canadian Museum of History welcomes over 100,000 visitors to The Greeks – Agamemnon to Alexander the Great

Gatineau, Quebec, August 24, 2015 —Halfway through its run at the Canadian Museum of History, The Greeks – Agamemnon to Alexander the Great has passed the 100,000 visitor mark. The Museum is delighted with the public’s response to date, and looks forward to welcoming many more visitors to this extraordinary exhibition.

Visitors have until October 12, 2015 to experience the exhibition and its treasures before it leaves Canadian soil and travels to The Field Museum in Chicago. From there, the exhibition will go to the National Geographic Museum in Washington, DC, where it will complete its North American tour.

In September and October, a series of four fascinating lectures presented by Canadian and Greek experts will give visitors to the Canadian Museum of History the opportunity to explore the many mysteries of Ancient Greece. The Greeks – Agamemnon to Alexander the Great is the most comprehensive exhibition on Ancient Greece ever presented in North America. It explores 5,000 years of history and features over 500 outstanding artifacts from 21 Greek museums, including many pieces never before displayed outside their homeland.

The exhibition was organized by a consortium of four museums in North America led by the Canadian Museum of History. It was developed by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, Education and Religious Affairs (Athens, Greece), the Canadian Museum of History (Gatineau, Canada), The Field Museum (Chicago, USA), the National Geographic Museum (Washington, DC, USA) and Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Archaeology and History Complex (Montréal, Canada), with the support of the Government of Canada.
