Gatineau, Quebec, March 29, 2012 — The CMCC is pleased that the Government of Canada has maintained its level of funding to the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Canadian War Museum. We believe that this decision underlines the Government’s commitment to Canada’s two national history museums.  It also recognizes our Museums’ importance, relevance to Canadians, and our efforts over the past years to ensure that our Museums operate efficiently and effectively.

With this announcement, our Museums will continue to preserve and present Canada’s military and human history for the benefit of all Canadians.

We are also pleased to note the Government’s decision to further support the Canada Travelling Exhibitions Indemnification Program which will allow our two museums greater access to internationally acclaimed exhibitions.

The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation operates the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Canadian War Museum and the Virtual Museum of New France. As part of their mandate, the Museums function as centres for research and public information on the social, military and human history of the country. Their principal role is to preserve and promote the heritage of Canada for present and future generations, thereby contributing to the enhancement of Canadian identity.
