Acrobat Hailin Sun performs a Lion Dance and traditional Chinese dances, and Yadong Guan will amaze you with the superb music of the pipa. Join us for ongoing artistic demonstrations in the exhibition! This activity is presented in conjunction with Treasures from China, which features 120 prized artefacts and illuminates the rich history and remarkable achievements of the Chinese people. On display are jade carvings and lacquerware, paintings and calligraphy, silk textiles, ceramics and items fashioned from bronze, gold and silver.

The signatures of great Canadians reveal their personal traits. Would you like to identify common traits with your favourite great Canadian? Graphologist Johanne Bergeron will analyse and compare them both for you. This activity is presented with the new exhibition Face to Face, which opens to the public on Friday, October 26, 2007. Face to Face introduces some of the men and women who have had an impact on the evolution of our country. Meet them here, both in their public and private lives.

Day of the Dead

Join our special guests from the Mexican-Canadian community to celebrate Mexico’s annual custom of remembrance, Los Dias de los muertos. Make your own dancing calacas (skeletons) and parade through the village to the sound of mariachi music by Leobardo Tagle. Express your talent by making a sugar skull to add to the family altar in the Studio at: (11:00 a.m., 12:30, 1:15 and 2:00 p.m.) In partnership with the Embassy of Mexico.
