Chinese Finery and Lion Dance

Gatineau, Quebec, May 2, 2007 — Two lively and colourful presentations await you at the Canadian Museum of Civilization on May 12. Enjoy the traditional Lion Dance performed by acrobat Hailin Sun. Deeply rooted in Chinese culture and mythology, this dance is used to chase away monsters and bring good luck, prosperity and longevity. Afterwards, join us for a colourful presentation of approximately 50 authentic Chinese costumes belonging to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. These rich, authentic costumes depict different groups from various regions of China. Don’t miss this feast for the eyes!

These activities are presented in conjunction with the exhibition Treasures from China, on until October 28, 2007.
