Ruth Ramsden-Wood, Ken Langille and Duncan Dee Appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation

Gatineau, Quebec, March 10, 2009 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (CMCC) is pleased to announce three new appointments to the Corporation’s Board of Trustees: Ruth Ramsden-Wood, of Calgary, Alberta, Ken Langille of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and Duncan Dee of Ottawa, Ontario.

Ruth Ramsden-Wood received her Master of Arts degree from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University in New York. For 30 years, she has implemented a variety of strategic initiatives as a principal and a community leader. Ms. Ramsden-Wood is currently the President of United Way of Calgary and Area and has guided the organization through a shift in strategic direction, moving from fund distributor to a catalyst for social action in the community. Ms. Ramsden-Wood serves on the Board of Governors for Mount Royal College, the Board of Directors for the Calgary Homeless Foundation, is a member of the council of Partners and Champion of Champions of Calgary’s Children’s Initiative and is a member of the Diversity Calgary Leadership Council.

Mr. Langille is a founding member and past Chairman of Crime Stoppers, Crime Prevention, and the New Glasgow Youth Centre. He was also a member of the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame Committee and served as past president of the Festival of Tartans Committee. Mr. Langille served on the New Glasgow Fire Department for 30 years, on the New Glasgow Town Council as Deputy Mayor, Chair of the Police Commission and Fire Committee, Vice-Chair of New Glasgow Rink Commission and was a member of the Downtown Development Committee, Library Committee and Heritage.
Mr. Langille’s commitment to the community and strong leadership will be an asset to the CMCC.

Mr. Dee is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. His background in marketing and communications has led him to hold positions such as the Executive Vice President, Customer Experience and Chief Administrative Officer at Air Canada where he was responsible for all aspects of the customer airport experience throughout Air Canada’s worldwide network. Mr. Dee also held senior positions in the Government of Canada.

Mr. Dee was awarded Canada’s Top 40 under 40 Award in 2004, which recognizes Canadian leaders of today and tomorrow. Mr. Dee’s skills in leadership and innovation have led him to serve as Chairman of the Board for Air Canada Vacations, which was the recipient of the Consumers’ Choice Award for Business Excellence in 2006.

Appointed by the Governor-in-Council, the eleven members of the CMCC’s Board of Trustees are part-time appointees, representing different regions of Canada. These appointments to the Board were originally announced by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
