Have a ball with Poi
July 4, 2007Have a ball with Poi
Gatineau, Quebec, July 3, 2007 Poi, the street-performance art that originated in Maori culture, is coming to the Canadian Childrens Museum! Join us on Mondays July 9, 16 and 23 for Glow in the Dark Poi in Action! Youll get to watch a Poi performance and give it a try yourself!
Discover how much fun you can have with a flick of your wrist and some juggling balls. Poi is a great activity with some strings attached literally, since its a form of juggling with balls connected to ropes that you spin and swing in circular patterns.
Poi is a traditional performance art invented by the Maori people of New Zealand to increase flexibility, strength and coordination. Modern Poi has evolved with lots of variations including the dramatic glow-in-the-dark version.
