In late fall, the Algonquians moved inland to their hunting grounds. Since the resources
in those areas were less abundant and more dispersed, small hunting groups of 10 to 20
people were formed. In the winter, the Algonquians depended mainly on big game such as
moose and caribou for their survival, supplementing their diet with smaller animals
(beaver, hare, porcupine, etc.) and fish (caught through the ice).
