The seasons dictated the way of life of the Algonquians, who moved from place to place in
search of resources. From spring to early fall, they came together in coastal areas or on
the shores of the main lakes and waterways. In the coastal areas, which were rich in
resources, dozens, if not hundreds, of people gathered in small villages. They fished,
hunted migratory birds (including geese) and gathered wild fruits, ensuring that their
diet was varied and that there was an abundant supply of food.
