Return to the St. Lawrence Valley In the second half of the 17th century, Iroquoian peoples settled in the St. Lawrence Valley once again, the Huron-Wendat in the Quebec City area and the Iroquois in the Montreal region. Members of the Seven Nations of Canada, a confederacy of nations, these Iroquoian peoples were valuable military allies of the French until the conquest of New France.
