The visual effect of this extensively chip-carved box, with its rich colours, is exceptional. Originally found in the Saint John River valley in New Brunswick, it may have been made by an Acadian artisan. It is part of the large collection of furniture and accessories assembled by John and Heather Harbinson, and later acquired by the Museum.
