Last chance to sign up for Canadian Museum of Civilization’s human mural

The Human Mozaïk creates murals through digital photography. Dozens of people of all ages and cultures are photographed and pixelated to become part of a vast mural installed in the urban environment.

On Saturday, March 25, 150 lucky members of the public will participate in a photo session where they’ll get professional makeup and hairstyling before being wrapped in colourful fabric. Then, Human Mozaïk founder Jean René and the other artists will photograph them to become part of the colour palette. Each person becomes a pixel that’s used to create the final image, a composition of two faces that represent Canada’s cultural diversity. The mural will be installed in early May on the four-floor façade of the CMC’s administrative building, just in time for the Museum’s 150th Anniversary Open House on Sunday, May 14. It will remain on display until the end of December 2006.

There are still a few spots left, so interested participants should leave their name and phone number on the RSVP line at (819) 776-8382. Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline is March 15. CMC staff will contact the first 150 respondents with further details about the photo session, which takes place in the Cascades Salon on Saturday, March 25, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
