Journey back to the Victorian era at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Gatineau, Quebec, October 8, 2010 — On October 14, the Canadian Museum of Civilization invites you to take part in a fresh new workshop series in which culture, crafts and cocktails collide. These fun-filled DIY evenings, for adults only, include quirky craft projects, local artists and a DJ spinning trendy beats.

Do you ever long for the days when people carried parasols, hands were kissed, and beautiful, flowery speech was used in everyday life? The first workshop of the series Vintage Victoriana proposes a journey back to a gentler time. Come create your own unique Victorian-inspired headpiece or jewellery. You can even pose for a silhouette portrait: a popular nineteenth-century pastime. Period styles are all the rage on the runway, so why not join us on our very own Victorian streetscape and get crafty!

Everyone is welcome, from the newbie crafter to the seasoned creator. Come solo, on a date, or with a group of your best mates for a creative experience you won’t want to miss.
