Diamond Point Armoire

Sometime during the early to mid-1800s, this armoire was refurbished. Larger simplified cornice mouldings were applied over the original, and a new bracket base was added in a manner more commonly associated with Anglo furnishings. The original dark blue-green colour was then concealed with a hand painted grained finish intended to simulate figured maple and possibly other fancy wood finishes. On occasion, the cultural influences of the French- and English-speaking communities merged.
