February 10, 2016

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

For immediate release

Gatineau, Quebec, February 10, 2016 — This year, the Canadian Museum of History is the place for fun on Family Day weekend.

Come and celebrate at the Museum with Ships, Shields and Sagas, three activities for all ages inspired by the exhibition Vikings.

Enjoy an interactive storytelling session based on Thor Takes a Bite, one of the sagas presented in the Vikings exhibition. English sessions are at 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.; French sessions are at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Then, team up with other families in the Grand Hall to build a Viking ship using 30,000 Mega Bloks, and learn about the Vikings’ amazing shipbuilding skills.

Finally, decorate your very own Viking shield, and learn how this essential piece of equipment protected Norse warriors both on land and at sea.

And for kids who like trains, they can meet Thomas the Tank Engine in the new exhibition Thomas & Friends™ – Explore the Rails presented at the Canadian Children’s Museum.
