Overview of School Program Offerings

The Canadian Museum of History offers a wide range of school programs that encourage students to pursue a deeper understanding of the people, places and events that have shaped Canada. The Museum features a number of exhibitions and is home to the Canadian Children’s Museum and CINÉ+. Our wide range of world-class attractions enables us to offer a broad selection of programs tailored to your needs and those of your students.

The Canadian Museum of History offers meaningful learning experiences designed to support teachers in providing exceptional history education. Based on the principles of critical thinking, these programs provide access to material history, problem-solving activities and creative opportunities for students to communicate their findings. Museums share history through the stories they tell, and these programs aim at ensuring that your students come away with a greater understanding of the human stories behind historical events. Our programs closely match Ontario and Quebec curricula in the areas of Social Studies, History and Geography.

Learning Experiences

Our four programming formats offer you and your students a wide range of learning experiences in a variety of environments. Each of these programming formats – described below – emphasizes core competencies such as teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and accommodates visual, kinesthetic and auditory learning styles.
