Storage Chest

This small storage chest is remarkable in that the lozenge panels and mouldings are all carved in relief from the front board to create the illusion of framed panels. The cut-outs on the feet and top mouldings add to the balance and stature of this otherwise simple storage box. The lozenge motif dates back to some of the very earliest pieces made in Quebec, but it never achieved the popularity of other motifs such as the diamond point.
