Regency Sidechair

This chair is one from a set of six. Its reeded back, skilfully carved centre rail and applied roundels are Nisbet characteristics and the chair was probably made by him. The X-shaped stretcher joining the legs is an uncommon feature and is generally found only on chairs of this period with a New Brunswick provenance. It is a form that was occasionally used in Scotland during the Regency period, which may have been the inspiration for this set.
