Pitcher

This well-proportioned pitcher has a thumb stop at the top of the handle, which may be used to help secure the user's grip. It was found in northern Waterloo County and the warm, dappled glaze of dark brown on an olive-green and rust-buff coloured ground suggests that it may be the work of William Eby. However, attributions to a specific maker on the basis of glazes and even forms can be challenging because there were a number of potters active in the Waterloo County region and their work was sometimes very similar.
