Open Storage Crock

Oral history attributes this large open storage crock with lug handles to Daniel Orth, a farmer and potter who was active from 1850 to 1900. His shop was located in Clinton Township near the town of Campden, Ontario. The balanced combination of the dark green and orange iron oxide glaze adds to the decorative appeal of this crock. It was purchased in the 1960s at an estate auction on Fourth Street near Jordan, Ontario.
