Harvest Ring

Three generations of the Brownscombe family contributed to the heritage of earthenware in Ontario from 1843 to 1907. They often distinguished their work with applied decoration, such as on this wonderful harvest ring, which was passed down in the family. The extent of the decoration found here, which even includes the stopper, would indicate that it was made for their personal use and the love of their craft. It was a showpiece, never intended for practical use. The translucent reddish brown glaze was often used by the Brownscombes.
